  • Imagine owning a pizza parlor. The government decides one day there are too many pizza parlors so you have to close your store, let go of your employees and just take the loss. This is what is happening to the Chrysler and GM dealerships. This is a huge injustice and where does it stop.

    Hi Everyone,

We are asking everyone to email to their congressmen or congresswomen regarding a proposed bill HR 2743, which will re-instate all the terminated dealers for Chrysler and GM. So far there are 70 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives, but we need more support. Please type in your name and address at the bottom of the letter and email it. We have attached the proposed legislation and a list of co-sponsors thus far. Click on this link to get your local legislator’s email address: http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/index.html. We truly appreciate any help you can give us.

    United States House of Representatives

    Washington, DC 20515

    Dear Congressman,

There has been an unwarranted assault on the United States Automobile Franchise System. Through bankruptcy the manufacturers have terminated thousand of dealers, not for the sake of cost, but for an unproven belief that fewer dealerships are better. By doing this the manufacturers have taken away the dealer’s states rights for remedy (State Franchise Laws), are forcing mass layoffs on large and small communities that you represent, are inconveniencing the consumer and are severely hurting local city, state and federal taxes income. There will be few choices when shopping for a vehicle, as well as having to travel further for warranty work. Many of the affected dealers will need to downsize or close. They have been major supporters in the local communities. And many will be forced into both business and personal bankruptcy.

All is not yet over. Thanks to the non-stop persistence of dealer Jack Fitzgerald, there is a bill in the United States House that will reinstate our dealerships. The bill number is H.R. 2743. I believe this is the most important bill dealers have ever introduced. This bill will give all dealers the rights that were granted them in their individual states. We have some momentum but we must act now. We presently have 70 co-sponsors but need many more. We are asking you to sign on to this bill which will not cost the U.S. Taxpayer.

I need your help. I need your support for H.R 2743. This bill restores the economic rights of General Motors and Chrysler car dealers as they existed prior to each company's bankruptcies. It will not cost the government or the American people any money. I would appreciate it if you would sign on as a co-sponsor. Thank you for your support.

I know we all treasure our State Franchise Laws. Please help in actively gaining support for H.R. 2743 today.

    Thank you!
